I have mentioned in my last blog post that there is this dance marathon coming up in your way, right? So if you guys just did not visit that link, I’m gonna explain this thing fully in this blogpost, so you can be interested.
Dance Marathon
‘Pack the Floor for 24’ is a fund-raising event that culminates with a 24 hour dance marathon in January 2008 for children with AIDS in Malaysia. An expected turnout of 600 individuals from various learning institutions and dance academies will dance for the children from 12 January 2008 to 13 January 2008 in the Securities Commission Conference Hall in Mont Kiara.

About Us
The Vision of a Better Tomorrow
We, the organizing committee, had only one thing in our minds: charity. In tandem with HELP University College’s educational and corporate philosophies which are “to be significant” and “to be compassionate”, we wanted to successfully execute an event that would directly aid the less fortunate. It all started from a wild idea of doing a dance marathon, inspired by the hit drama series Gilmore Girls. As possibilities began to turn into realities, ‘Pack the Floor for 24’ was born!
Soon, the idea of pumping the proceeds of this large scale event to HIV affected children around Malaysia was suggested and agreed upon. In line with this effort, we hope that by organising this ground- breaking charity event, we will be able to build awareness among the young people of Malaysia about the need to acknowledge the battles of children suffering from AIDS and the importance of HIV education and testing. Most importantly, we want to encourage young people to make a difference in halting the spread of this critical, preventable disease. Hope is something we can spread!
With this ambition in mind, we hope that we can spur our community to play an active role in charity work. Join us and do YOUR part! Any form of support will play a significant role in ensuring this event becomes a success.
Why Dancing?
Dancing is universal. Anybody can dance, from a senior citizen to a small child. We hope to connect people from all walks of life and ages through the phenomenon of dancing while conveying the vital message our event carries: the importance of charity for the future of Malaysia.
With this dance marathon, the participants will be encouraged to dance for a worthy cause. Everyone is involved. Every individual can make an impact. Make a difference in our increasingly self-absorbed world today.

Objectives

To raise awareness among the young people of Malaysia about the need to acknowledge the battles of children suffering from AIDS

You can register to be one of these:
Dancer, Performer, Moraler or Volunteer!
Dancer : stay up and dance the night and day! Become and participant with an amount of Rm35 minimum, or more for Charity!
Performer : perform for the event! singing,dancing, group dances!! Make the party even more alive!
Moraler : cheer on the fellow dancers! Motivate them to keep them going on for the 24 hours!
Volunteer : help out with us organizing the event! We participate in the tasks of our own committee such as publicity, programmes and many many more!
Corporate Relations
As a nonprofit student organization, Dance Marathon at HELP is run completely on a volunteer basis where 100% of all monetary contributions and proceeds are donated directly to our beneficiaries. Thus, corporate support is the foundation of our growth and success
